Iztech School of Foreign languages gives education to graduate and undergraduate students accepted to Izmir Institute of Technology. Iztech School of Foreign languages provides graduate and undergraduate students with the necessary English language education. As the medium of instruction is English, foreign language education is very important and it becomes so difficult for the students of Iztech to complete their education in preparatory school.

Apart from its basic function, School of Foreign languages incessantly goes on  research and development studies in order to increase the quality of education as being aware of its important mission. It accomplished its academic and administrative structuring with these aims and the approach of modernity in education.

The medium of instruction is English at Iztech.  In graduate and undergraduate programs, students who will go on their education are required to know English in academic level. In graduate and undergraduate programs students are required to know English in academic level in order to follow their courses. School of Foreign Languages was founded in 1996-1997 academic year, went on its education till 2000 as a part of Presidency and in 2000 it gained Higher School status.

School of Foreign Languages includes Department of Basic English and Department of Modern Languages. It provides English courses in academic level for undergraduate and graduate students with a director, two vice directors, a general coordinator, a graduate school secretary, and instructors. Academic and administrative staff at Iztech School of Foreign Languages is given in-service training in order to be provided with the modern vision which is necessary in service production to increase quality.

Our mission is to help scientists of future by giving the necessary knowledge and ability of foreign language education that is enough for meeting their language needs. Our mission is to help future scientists to have necessary knowledge and ability of a foreign language to meet their needs in their lives. and in this way, they will be able to express themselves and represent our institution in international platforms where foreign languages are used as communication medium.

Vision

Our vision is to help students to reach a level that they can use foreign language in the best way and to develop the language used in technology. Our aim is to enable the students to communicate in the target language effectively and equipped them with language skills which will enable them to improve the language used in technology.

Yabancı Diller Yüksekokulu, İzmir Yüksek Teknoloji Enstitüsüne kabul edilen lisans ve lisansüstü öğrencilerine İngilizce hazırlık eğitimi vermektedir. Enstitümüzde öğretim dilinin İngilizce olması Yabancı Dil Eğitiminin önemini arttırmakta ve Yüksekokulumuzda eğitim alan öğrenciler için zorlu bir hazırlık dönemi anlamına gelmektedir.

Yabancı Diller Yüksekokulu, temel işlevi olan yabancı dil eğitiminin yanı sıra taşıdığı önemli misyonun bilincinde olarak, eğitim kalitesini arttırmaya yönelik her türlü araştırma ve geliştirme faaliyetlerini de aralıksız olarak sürdürmektedir. Bu hedefler ve eğitimde modern hizmet anlayışı yaklaşımıyla idari ve akademik yapılanmasını tamamlamıştır.

İzmir Yüksek Teknoloji Enstitüsü’nün eğitim dili İngilizcedir. Lisans ve lisansüstü programlarda öğrenimlerini sürdürecek olan tüm öğrencilerin akademik düzeyde yabancı dil bilgisine sahip olmaları gerekir.

Yabancı Diller Bölümü olarak bu ihtiyacı karşılamak üzere, 1996-1997 akademik yılında kurulmuş; 2010 yılına kadar Rektörlüğe bağlı bir birim olarak çalışmış; 2010 yılında da, Yüksekokul statüsüne geçmiştir.

Yabancı Diller Yüksekokulu, Temel İngilizce ve Modern Diller Bölümlerini içerir. Müdür, iki Müdür Yardımcısı, Temel İngilizce Bölüm Koordinatörü, Modern Diller Bölüm Koordinatörü ve Yüksekokul Sekreterinden oluşan yönetim kadrosu ve öğretim elemanları ile lisans ve lisansüstü öğrencilere akademik düzeyde İngilizce eğitimi verir. Yüksekokulumuzda görev yapan idari ve akademik kadrolar sürekli hizmet-içi eğitime tabi tutularak hizmet üretiminde kalite artırımı için gerekli çağdaş vizyona sahip olmaları sağlanmaktadır.

Misyon

Geleceğe yön verecek olan bilim insanlarına, eğitimleri boyunca ve sonrasında tüm yabancı dil ihtiyaçlarını karşılayabilecek düzeyde, çağın gereklerine uygun, dilin iletişim aracı olarak kullanıldığı uluslar arası platformlarda Enstitümüzü temsil ve kendilerini ifade edebilmeleri için gerekli olan yabancı dil bilgi ve becerilerini kazandırmaktır.
