Dear Students,

According to Article 13 of the Izmir Institute of Technology, School of Foreign Languages, Basic English Department Preparatory Class Regulations, titled “Leave of Absence,” (Undergraduate and graduate students in the preparatory class may take a one-year leave of absence to return to the Institute.) Students may be granted the right to suspend their registration by decision of the relevant Board of Directors if the following reasons exist:

* Sick leave may be granted for one year, provided it is documented with a medical report covering the period requiring the one-year leave.

* If students are drafted into the military due to a unavoidable delay or postponement, military leave may be granted for the duration of their military service.

* Students may also be granted leave for study abroad or for assignments related to their studies.

* Leave for Financial and Family Reasons: This leave may be granted in the event of death, natural disaster, or similar circumstances that occur unexpectedly and affect the student’s livelihood.

Preparatory class students who request a one-year leave of absence (leave of absence) due to the excuses mentioned above must complete the petition below, attach a document supporting their excuse, and send it to ydyo@iyte.edu.tr between September 19, 2025 and October 10, 2025.
