Dear Students,

In accordance with Article 13 titled “Leave of Absence” of the İzmir Institute of Technology School of Foreign Languages Preparatory Class Regulations (“Preparatory class undergraduate and graduate students may take a leave of absence for one year to return to the Institute.”), students may be granted a leave of absence upon the decision of the relevant Administrative Board in the presence of the following grounds:

• Leave of Absence for Health Reasons: Students may be granted up to one year of medical leave, provided that it is documented with a medical report covering the period that requires a one-year leave.
• Military Service Leave: In cases where students are drafted due to mandatory reasons preventing deferment or postponement procedures, military service leave may be granted for the duration of their military service.
• Study Abroad Leave: Leave may be granted to students who go abroad for educational purposes or are assigned duties related to their studies.
• Leave for Financial and Family Reasons: Leave may be granted in unexpected circumstances affecting the student’s livelihood, such as death, natural disasters, or similar situations.

Students who wish to request a one-year leave of absence (freeze registration) based on the above-mentioned reasons must complete the application form below, attach the document proving their excuse, and send it to ydyo@iyte.edu.tr between 21.09.2026 and 11.10.2026.
