13 September Placement & Proficiency Exam Stage 1 Test Specifications (Student’s copy)

 

 

Important information about the two-stage ‘Placement and Proficiency’ exam held by the School of Foreign Languages for undergraduate and graduate students:

  • 2022-2023 Academic Year SBS 1st stage will be held on September 13, 2022, and 2nd stage will be held on September 16, 2022, face-to-face on campus.
  • Students who get the minimum passing score announced in the first stage of the exam are entitled to take the second stage of the exam. Those who score below the minimum passing score are placed in L1 and L2 levels of the preparatory class.
  • Students who do not attend the first stage of the exam cannot attend the second stage of the exam and are placed in L1 level of the preparatory class.
  • Students who DO NOT ATTEND the second stage of the exam despite getting enough points from the first stage of the exam are placed in the preparatory class.
  • Students who are eligible to take the second stage are entitled to continue their education in their own departments if they get 60 or more points from the exam which is out of 100 points.
  • Students who will continue to the preparatory program are placed in the appropriate level of the preparatory program based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) according to the results of the first stage of the exam.
  • STUDENTS WHO DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN SBS STAGE 1 ARE PLACED IN THE LOWEST LEVEL GROUP. FOR THIS REASON, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN STAGE 1 OF THE EXAM.
  • There is no make-up for the Placement Exam.

PREPARATORY CLASS IS A PROGRAM INCLUDING 1 ACADEMIC YEAR (FALL AND SPRING SEMESTER). UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS CANNOT COMPLETE THE PREPARATORY CLASS IN ONE TERM.

Students can be exempted from the program only if they bring a result document showing that they have received a valid grade from the exams accepted by the School of Foreign Languages.
