About The Department of Modern Languages

About Us

The Department of Modern Languages offers undergraduate students of all faculties compulsory courses in English and elective courses in Japanese  Our courses are designed to improve our students’ reading, writing, speaking and listening skills at various levels.  Through the acquisition of a foreign language, our students also gain insight into the corresponding culture.

The Department of Modern Languages is responsible for planning enriching content and appropriate pacing for courses to increase the efficiency of learning. We provide support to students and academic staff throughout the year to ensure a high quality of education.

Our department offers compulsory English writing and reading courses to:

–          Freshmen of all departments in fall and spring terms

–          Sophomores in the Departments of Architecture and City and Regional Planning in the fall term

–          Juniors in the Department of Food Engineering in the fall term

–          Juniors in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the spring term
