SUMMER SCHOOL REGULATIONS OF THE SCHOOL OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES

Subject

Article 1- The subject of these regulations is to determine the procedures and principles for the implementation of the Izmir Institute of Technology Summer School Regulation.

Scope

Article 2- Only students who fulfill the attendance obligation in the Preparatory class of the School of Foreign Languages can participate in the Summer School.

Principles Regarding Summer School Education

Article 3- There are a minimum of 25 and a maximum of 30 hours of classes per week in the Summer School.

Article 4- Only students who attended the Summer School and did not exceed the attendance limit are eligible to take the Proficiency Exam at the end of the Summer School.

Article 5- Those who fail the Proficiency Exam at the end of the Summer School can participate in the September Level Determination Exam, which will be held at the beginning of the following academic year.

Article 6- For the Summer School to be opened, there must be a minimum of 5 registered students. The number of sections and the number of students in each section to be opened in the Summer School are determined by the School of Foreign Languages Directorate based on the total number of registered students in the Summer School.

Article 7- Requests for deferral of registration and preserving the student’s right to education are not accepted in the Summer School. Requests to leave after registration are evaluated by the School Management Board and a decision is made.

Article 8- Students who, for a justifiable and valid reason determined by the School Directorate, cannot attend the Proficiency Exam given at the end of the Summer School may be given a make-up exam.

Article 9- No assessment exam is held in the Summer School other than the Proficiency Exam to be given at the end of the Summer School.

Achievement Assessment

Article 10- Students who score at least 60% in the Proficiency Exam given at the end of the Summer School are considered successful and are deemed to have passed the Preparatory Class.

Article 11- The attendance limit in the Summer School is 15%. Students exceeding this limit fail due to absenteeism and cannot take the Proficiency Exam to be given at the end of the Summer School.

Tuition Fee

Article 12- The fee to be charged from students who want to attend the Summer School is determined annually by the Ministry of Finance.

Effective Date

Article 13 – This regulation shall enter into force on the date it is approved by the Senate of Izmir Institute of Technology.

Execution

Article 14- This regulation is executed by the Rector of the Izmir Institute of Technology.
